Item arrived on time for Christmas as promised, even though I ordered quite late. It does not have a "normal" tea kettle whistling sound. The census of the family is that it's either a boat or a train whistle sound, but it's nicer than the screaming whistle most make. Also, it does not whistle if there's not a lot of water in the kettle. You can tell it's boiling, but it might not make any sound unless it's more than half full. I would recommend this item for purchase.
